Obviously it’s going to depend on each user’s personal preferences and their workflow, but I can’t express how amazing my workflow is with the Adobe apps, Creative Cloud, and now Monterey’s SideCar. You’re reading 9to5Mac experts who break news about Apple and its surrounding ecosystem, day after day. I had thought about picking up a dedicated Wacom tablet, but I’m glad I procrastinated! We’ll see as time goes on, but extremely happy with it so far! (It was usable in Big Sur, but somewhat laggy.) I’m using a 2017 13” MacBook Pro and a 2021 iPad Pro (running iPadOS 15.2) and using in the past couple days has been AMAZING over previous versions of SideCar. Perfect for: Mac users who don't meet the requirements for Sidecar, and Windows users. I’m not sure layer limitations or processing power is going to be a holdback on the 2020 iPad Pro (and particularly not the 2021 iPadPro). AstroPad Slate is slightly different in that it turns your iPad into a no-screen pen tablet that can then be used to draw. ![]() AstroPad Slate is the new app from the people behind the AstroPad Studio solution that turns your iPad into an external screen and graphics tablet. Personally, absolutely it can (and has!). AstroPad Slate can do just that, and the app is now available in open beta.
